When we’re empowered to speak honestly about how we feel and what we need, we can tap into resilience and well-being.

The two universal laws of impermanence are uncertainty and unpredictability. When life changes unexpectedly, we can often feel off balance, insecure, and unclear of what really matters and/or what to do next. This is normal. What can support us to reclaim our life and tap into our internal wisdom is re-asserting our strength of mind and heart.

Mindfulness and compassion are two important qualities that increase our resilience. At this pivotal time in our world, we need to cultivate both. Mindfulness allows us to see things as they are and turn toward challenges. We are all in this soup together

In the world right now, there are are many feelings of that we are all experiencing due to the uncertainty of what is to come by the change of the new US president elect. Like in many countries around the world, there is a clear divide around beliefs and values. As a woman who lives in the United States and doing the work that I do, I have seen and felt this divide clearly and now it is very much in the light for everyone in the world to see.

When we meditate, we are able to see what is really true. We see things clearly and by seeing things clearly, we can then choose the wise response. A division can be an opportunity for more understanding and compassion. When something challenging happens, how well do you recover?

Resilience is the ability to get back up after adversity. Due to the unpredictability of life, there will always be joys and sorrows. Resilient people are able to greet change and difficulty as an opportunity for self-reflection, learning, and growing.

Well-being and resilience are skills one can learn and cultivate. It is such a valuable skill set that world leaders are beginning to recognize its significance. More than 150 world leaders attended the UN Sustainable Development Summit in September 2015, where they spoke about adopting a new sustainable development agenda, among this agenda was well-being for the world.
